Nerve Block

Pain management doctors inject a numbing medicine (an anesthetic) into the area around a damaged nerve to relieve pain. This “turns off” the pain signal along the nerve or group of nerves that are causing the pain. Pain relief is temporary.

A nerve block may give a damaged nerve time to heal. It can also be used to diagnose the exact cause of the pain and to guide our pain management doctor in choosing the best treatment for you.
