Dr. Magued Fadly uses the anterior endoscopic cervical microdiscectomy procedure to treat patients with cervical degenerative disease, herniated discs and other spinal conditions — this procedure removes damaged discs in the cervical section of the spine, and does not require cervical fusion like other surgical procedures might.
Patients with a cervical disc that is damaged or herniated may experience severe pain, which can radiate to the shoulders and arms. Using this minimally invasive procedure, only the damaged or bulging portion of the cervical disc is removed.
During the procedure, a small incision is made in the surgical area. An endoscope or tiny camera is used to view the area, and minimally invasive surgical tools are navigated to the cervical spine. The damaged parts of the vertebral disc are removed, while preserving the rest of the disc body.
